Ophthalmologist's Sign
Here's a scene I shot in Ishioka, a provincial city in Ibaraki prefecture.
Standing in front of a ordinary-looking local pub is a triangular ophthalmologist's sign with an eye drawn on each side. To most Japanese it looks really old-fashioned, almost spooky, like something out of a horror movie. The sign is in fact quite old, and where the ophthalmologist's used to be, next to the pub, it's now a parking lot. Outside the pub, which is closed during the day, an electrician is busy at work. This juxtaposition of the everyday and the extraordinary is the kind of scene you wouldn't be surprised to see in a surrealist painting.
In this Fotomo, I precisely reproduced the proportions of the sign in full 3D, while making use of perspective to create a semi-3D effect with the photos of the pub.
