Firmware update for the camera body can be carried out using only the camera body.
To update the lens firmware, both camera body and lens are required.
The update procedure varies depending on the combination of the camera body and the lens. The following table describes the update procedure in each combination.

When using the E-M5 camera for updating the firmware of the lenses, you will need the following firmware version:

Please make sure to update the firmware of the camera to the latest version before updating the lenses. |

For updating the camera to the latest version, you are required to update the camera twice.
If the current version is 1.0 or 1.1:
First, update the camera to version 1.3, and then update to the latest version.
If the current version is 1.2:
First, update the camera to version 1.4, and then update to the latest version.
Before updating the firmware, install the Digital Camera Updater from the CD-ROM that is packaged with the E-M5 or download the latest version of the Digital Camera Updater (Win: ver. 1.03 / Mac: ver. 1.04).
You cannot update the firmware if updating with the earlier version of the Digital Camera Updater.

Do not disconnect the camera from the computer until the LCD on the camera displays OK. The firmware update is not complete until the camera displays OK. Disconnecting the camera before the firmware completes may render the camera inoperable. |
